Support Services

In the effort to support our patients, their families and caregivers, Ocean Medical Center offers a variety of support services during your stay.

Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care team responds to the spiritual needs of our patients and their families of all religious faiths.

Please call the operator at "0" to receive a visit from the chaplain or another member of our Pastoral Care team during regular business hours, or ask a nurse to page the Pastoral Care team.

The Medical Center chapel is located on the first floor across from the West elevators. There is a chapel office / Bikur Cholim next to the chapel that can be used for meditation, prayer, or family meetings. It is open at all times to patients and visitors of all faiths.

Guest Representatives

Please consider our patient representatives "at your service" and ready to provide general assistance during your stay. They will be happy to answer your questions, address any concerns you may have, and act on your behalf.

You can reach them at our Guest Relations Department by dialing 732-836-4297. They are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you require immediate assistance, dial "0" for the operator, who will put you in touch with the appropriate person.

Private Duty Nursing Care

You have the right to hire a New Jersey licensed, registered, professional nurse for private nursing care during your hospitalization. For information or assistance in getting a private duty nurse, contact Shore Care at 732-776-4576, or ask for a list of available agencies. Please note that this kind of nursing care is not usually covered by insurance and must be paid out-of-pocket. Shore Care is a state licensed temporary staffing agency affiliated with Ocean Medical Center and part of Meridian Health. We can also provide you, upon request, a list of local professional nurse registries.

Social Work / Case Management / Utilization Review

Our personnel are available to assist you and your family throughout your hospital stay, providing discharge planning services, referrals to community services, and counseling.

Volunteers

Our volunteers make up a vital part to our health care team. Through their donation of time and services, they fill an important role in the Medical Center and the community by helping us deliver high-quality medical care. They assist nurses and provide personal services for patients, including reading and delivering books & newspapers.
