Freshstart Smoking Cessation Program
Freshstart is the American Cancer Society's smoking-cessation program and it is offered at Ocean Medical Center through the clinical advocate for the Lung Cancer Specialty Program. The Freshstart program consists of four one-hour sessions that take place during a two-week period period.
The goal of the program is to teach participants skills to deal with not smoking, while also addressing other issues such as physical addiction and psychological dependency. The program helps smokers to identify their "triggers" or reasons for smoking, and deals with the stress that can often accompany the process of "quitting" their smoking habit.
