Asbury Park Press (9/13) Ocean Medical Center's $18.5M wing built for comfort

Ocean Medical Center unveiled its $18.5 million wing for elective surgeries in an effort to attract new patients and cut costs by making the patients’ stay pleasant and delivering care more efficiently. Photos highlighted the patient centric design and amenities including the “curved “design of the nurses’ station, patient room, therapy gym and lobby.   (This story was also featured in Healthcare Design, News Jersey Business Magazine and Jersey Shore Online.)

 

Ocean Star (8/25), Brick PAL hosts Community Helpers Day

The first Community Helpers Day sponsored by the Brick Police Athletic League (PAL) introduced young campers to police officers, EMS volunteers, firefighters from Brenton Woods Fire Department and staff from the Emergency Department of Ocean Medical Center. Demonstrations included what to do in an emergency using an example of a broken leg. The Ocean Medical Center Emergency Department team explained what to expect during a typical hospital visit, showed X-rays and demonstrated how to wrap a soft cast.

 

Brick Times (8/12) Community Leaders Discuss Opioid Crisis
On July 29, Brick Township Mayor John Ducey joined U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato, Council Vice President Andrea Zapcic, Brick Police Chief James Riccio, as well as other representatives of the community at Ocean Medical Center for a roundtable discussion on the opioid crisis in Ocean County.

Three NJ Hospitals Win National Acclaim

Hackensack University Medical Center, Morristown Medical Center and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick are once again the first, second and third-best ranked hospitals in New Jersey, according to the U.S. News and World Report's annual ratings announced on Tuesday.

Link News (8/2) Dean Q. Lin named to Monmouth University Board of Trustees Dean Q. Lin, president of Ocean Medical Center and regional president of Hackensack Meridian Health, is elected to the Monmouth University Board of Trustees. In addition to his duties at the network, Dean serves on the fellowship of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the oldest private medical society in the U.S. and is a trustee with Fulfill (formerly the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean counties). Guild Of Ocean Medical Center Show Raises $ For Women's Services

The Guild of Hackensack Meridian Health Ocean Medical Center recently hosted their Annual Fashion Show at Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant Beach. The event raised more than $38,000 to support women's services at Ocean Medical Center. (The story was also featured in Brick Times.)

Meridian Medical Group's Primary Care Office on Hooper Avenue Moved, Effective May 1

The Meridian Medical Group primary care office of Diane Verga, M.D. and Satish Bhutani, M.D. has relocated to a more spacious office at 1868 Hooper Avenue in Toms River as of May 1 to better accommodate patients and their growing practice. Dr. Verga says of the half-mile move, "With the larger facility we will now be able to get patients in the exam rooms quicker and reduce the overall wait time. This will enhance our patients' experience as we continue to dedicate our practice to being an uppermost resource of health and wellness for the community."

A boating accident during the Grand Prix Boat Race off Point Pleasant resulted in one fatality and one trauma injury. The trauma patient was treated and admitted at Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
