Large Bore MRI Procedure
About the Large Bore Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Procedure
Ocean Medical Center is now offering a new choice in MRI Technology.
Ocean Medical Center has a new MRI system which helps to make the whole MRI experience a better one. With one foot of headroom, you won't feel like you're uncomfortably close to the magnet, so you're more relaxed throughout the exam. For anyone 5'2" and taller, every scan below the chest can be done with the head outside of the bore. This means feet first and head out for 60% of all typical exams.
When it comes to MRI, this unit is truly the best of both worlds. It was designed with those hard-to-scan patients in mind. Patients that have to contend with claustrophobia, anxiety, or panic disorder can rest assured that they don't need to be afraid. The large wide opening and short length creates a less intimidating environment that allows patients to remain relaxed. Not only does it provide a friendlier environment, the large wide opening is also ideal for those patients who are larger than average as it can accommodate patients as heavy as 400 pounds.
This MRI equipment was engineered with a high magnetic field strength of 1.5 tesla, which provides excellent resolution, ensuring that you're getting a high quality MRI.
