Hip Fracture Program

About Our Hip Fracture Program

The Hip Fracture Program at Ocean Medical Center works to improve outcomes for older adults that experience a hip fracture.

Our program features:

  • A multi-disciplinary team approach including the emergency room staff, orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, anesthesiologisits, hospitalists, physical therapy professionals, and others.
  • Involvement and input of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and First Aid squads in the community.
  • Streamlined admissions process upon arrival
  • Expedited time to surgery — typically less than 24 hours. Decreased time to surgical intervention results in better outcomes and shorter lengths of stay.
  • Sensitivity to pain management
  • Daily evaluation to monitor mobility for faster recovery
  • Rehabilitation planning earlier in the process
