Choosing a doctor is one of the most important decisions a person can make, yet surprisingly, many people make this critical selection based on a recommendation from a trusted family member, colleague, or friend.

Selecting a physician is really a decision best made while you are healthy and have some time to think about a number of possibilities. In general, you want a doctor who is well trained and competent. You also want a doctor who cares about you, who will listen to your concerns and explain things clearly, and who can be a partner with you in managing your health. Of course, you’ll probably want a doctor who accepts the type of health insurance you have and one who is affiliated with a reputable hospital.

There are more than 1,200 physicians affiliated with Meridian’s hospitals. Through their leadership and clinical expertise, Meridian is able to stay at the forefront of the health care industry. In the past year alone, more than 150 new physicians have joined the medical staffs at our three hospitals — Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Ocean Medical Center, and Riverview Medical Center.
