Low-Fat Dairy Foods May Keep Blood Presure Low
Got low-fat milk? If not, you might
want to get some, suggests a recent
study published in the American
Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Participants who took in the highest
amounts of low-fat dairy foods every
day had a 50 percent lower risk for high
blood pressure as those who consumed the
lowest amounts. The study of nearly 6,000 adults took place
over about two years.
Only low-fat dairy products, such as skim or low-fat milk
and yogurt, appeared to combat high blood pressure. Higher-fat
dairy foods, including whole milk, didn’t seem to help.
Also, eating low-fat dairy products may lower your risk for
diabetes and could even help you lose weight, according to
two other new studies.
