Emma Skuby, Meridian Wise & Well member

Emma Skuby of Wall Township has been a proud member of Wise & Well for about 10 years. She is a sincere advocate of the program and a faithful participant. "A friend of mine told me about this program. He said ‘It’s free, you should join,’" recalls Emma. "So I did!"

Emma retired from Fort Monmouth after a career as a secretary and found Wise & Well to be the perfect outlet in maintaining her social ties. As a member, she gets to meet interesting people while learning how to preserve her health. "It’s important to me because I live alone, and the presenters help me to maintain my health and well-being. I find that socializing with the other members is very helpful too."

Emma has formed special friendships with presenters, clinicians, and nurse educators. And she rarely misses the opportunity to take part in the outstanding educational offerings, screening services, and other member benefits. As a result, Wise & Well membership has even helped her fight depression.

Emma uses the toll-free Meridian Health Line regularly to ask the nurses "on call" for information. "I enjoy the screenings, too," remarks Emma. "They help me to monitor my health and the nurses always remind me to keep my cholesterol numbers down. They really encourage me!"

"Sometimes, I feel like the Wise & Well mascot or ambassador! I tell anyone who is about to retire to join Wise & Well," says Emma. "Try it. What’s not to like?" n
