The Lung Cancer program at Ocean Medical Center provides access to the experts, technology, and support needed to get treatment quickly and efficiently. The cornerstone of Ocean Medical Center’s Lung Cancer Program is the comprehensive evaluation of patients with thoracic malignancy. Through a single phone call, patients have access to treatments at any stage, whether it is from suspicion, through diagnosis, staging, definitive treatment, to follow-up. Facilitated by a dedicated clinical advocate, treatment recommendations are made by consensus of multiple specialists while consulting with the patient’s primary care physician. Special emphasis is placed on consideration of the latest National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, available clinical trials, and local expertise with the most up-to-date radiation, chemotherapy, surgical protocols, and technology.
The Experts
Our Lung Cancer Program brings together a group of physician to review and discuss Lung Cancer cases to determine the best course of treatment for each individual patient. This interdisciplinary physician group, referred to as the Lung Cancer Consensus Treatment Planning Board, is comprised of specialists from pulmonology, thoracic surgery, medical and radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, and primary care.
The Technology
We specialize in minimally invasive surgical techniques, using video assisted thoracoscopic surgery, for faster recovery.
The Support
Ocean has a Cancer Resource Center to provide additional information on cancer treatment, programs and support groups. Additionally, we work closely with the American Cancer Society and the Lung Cancer Circle of Hope to broaden our resource availability.
