Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a treatment that uses atmospheric pressures to deliver high doses of oxygen to patients. One hundred percent oxygen is given in a pressurized chamber to allow the blood to carry more oxygen to the area of the body that needs healing.
The hyperbaric team is supported by certified hyperbaric technicians who are also registered respiratory therapists. Ocean Medical Center handles approximately 700 "dives" per year.
Hyperbaric services are offered for the following approved diagnoses:
- Acute carbon monoxide intoxication
- Chronic Refractory Osteomyelitis
- Diabetic wounds below the knee
- Osteoradionecrosis (ORN)
- Soft Tissue Radionecrosis (STRN)
We have two hyperbaric chambers and a patient must have a doctor’s referral to receive treatment. Appointments are available Monday through Friday. Treatments typically last between two and three hours.
