Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Ocean Medical Center provides is a monitored exercise program designed to improve the function of the heart. It involves exercising while wearing a heart monitor and is facilitated under the direction of your cardiologist. The program also teaches you about heart disease and how to have a healthy lifestyle.
This program is for anyone who has had a:
- Valve replacement
- Heart attack
- Angina
- Bypass surgery
- Coronary artery disease
- Balloon angioplasty/athrectomy
Ocean Medical Center's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program will allow you to learn to cope with your illness while improving your physical health. If you feel you may benefit from our program you will need a prescription from your physician. Once you have a prescription, you may call and schedule your initial evaluation.
Evaluation & Program
During your initial visit, our staff will review your medical history and determine if you are appropriate for our program. We will discuss exercise options and techniques to increase your strength and stamina.
Our team will assist you with setting goals to get you on your way to improved health. We will advance exercise to your tolerance and evaluate your progress daily.
Our staff is trained and certified in emergency care and our facility is located in the medical center, providing a safe exercise environment.

Cardiac StepUp Program
Cardiac StepUp is an exercise program designed to improve the function of the heart. It involves exercising while having your blood pressure taken and learning to monitor your heart rate. The program also teaches you about heart disease and how to have a healthy lifestyle. The program includes:
- Exercise
- Sessions are scheduled three times a week
- Exercise in a group setting with a program designed for each person's needs
- Sessions are supervised by a nurse, an exercise physiologist, and a respiratory therapist
- Education
- Living with angina
- Cardiac medications
- Relaxation techniques, coping with stress
- Nutrition and diet changes for a healthy heart
- How the heart works and the benefits of exercise
