Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

We're located right in the hospital's Ambulatory Care Center. Our multi-disciplinary team develops rehabilitation programs that enable our patients to achieve an optimal level of function and wellness. These professionals enlist a comprehensive, leading-edge approach to the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to restore patients to their optimal physical, emotional, and psychological well-being while they recuperate from a heart attack, angina, bypass surgery, angioplasty, stent replacement, or a variety of other heart related conditions. Inpatient education, outpatient telemetry monitoring, and supervised maintenance exercise programs are offered depending on individual patient needs. Our fitness centers are part of our continuum of care to maintain an active lifestyle.

Industrial Therapy
All of our programs can be tailored to your personal and workplace needs, to help you and/or your employees stay healthy and injury free. We offer job site evaluation and alteration, "back school," and body mechanics training. We guide injured employees through rehabilitation to promote faster recuperation and into a fitness-wellness program to help prevent further injury.

LEAD: Life’s Exercise for Active Diabetics
LEAD is an exercise program that has been specially designed to improve the health of those with diabetes. Participants in the program will receive supervised wellness services including individualized exercise programs, nutritional counseling, and medication review. LEAD Team Members consist of registered respiratory therapists, registered and licensed nurses, exercise physiologists, and a licensed pharmacist. For registration details, contact Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation at 732-836-4275.

Occupational Therapy
Following illness or injury, people often experience difficulty in performing daily living activities. Our outpatient occupational therapy programs help these people maximize independence at home, work, or school. Our occupational therapists work with the patient, family, and physician to establish a plan of care tailored to the specific needs of each individual.

Pediatric Rehabilitation
The pediatric rehabilitation program provides evaluation, planning, and treatment for infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents from birth to 21 years of age. Therapy sessions address the particular needs of each child. The child and therapist work toward attaining skills that are developmentally age appropriate and/or functional for the child. Parents and families are invited to be part of the therapeutic process by assisting in the child's goal development and following through with a home program.

Physical Therapy
Physical therapy helps a person regain an appropriate level of function and fitness following illness or injury. Our staff establishes personal goals for each patient, helps him/her follow a carefully planned and medically approved treatment program, and maintains an ongoing dialogue with the patient's physicians. We believe our one-on-one patient-therapist relationships are a major reason for our outstanding success.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Patients experiencing conditions such as shortness of breath, emphysema, asthma, or pulmonary disease can achieve a healthier, more active life through exercise. Pulmonary rehabilitation combines both education and exercise sessions, offered by board-certified pulmonary physicians and health care professionals specializing in pulmonary treatment and rehabilitation, to enhance patients' quality of living. State-of-the-art diagnostic testing, outpatient pulmonary function testing, and treatment and rehabilitation for a variety of breathing problems are available. Our programs are individually prescribed to help patients increase mobility, improve stamina, and reduce breathing anxiety.

Speech Therapy
Adults and children with a variety of communication impairments can benefit from speech-language therapy. Our licensed, certified speech pathologists provide services for a variety of disorders including articulation and phonological disorders, language disorders, developmental delay, fluency problems, and organic disorders. Our pediatric speech therapy program provides evaluation, treatment, education, and family support to children of all ages. For adults and seniors, we evaluate and treat dysphagia, speech and language disorders, voice problems, head injuries, tracheostomies, and head and neck cancer. We also work on cognitive-communication with patients with neurological impairment. Our staff strives to meet each patient and family's goals for optimal communication and safe/effective swallowing with education, support, and quality of care.
