SleepCare at Ocean Medical Center
Do you wake up in the morning after a full night of sleep and not feel rested? Does your snoring keep your partner up at night? If you answered yes to these questions, you may have a sleep disorder — along with over 40 million Americans, according to the National Sleep Foundation.
That's why Ocean Medical Center offers SleepCare. SleepCare Centers, founded in 1997, has 17 diagnostic testing facilities in the region to help patients with numerous types of sleep disorders. Our six-bed state-of-the-art Sleep Center provides comprehensive sleep testing for both adults and pediatric patients.
SleepCare at Ocean Medical Center offers sleep studies that provide a comprehensive record of sleep patterns, leg movements, blood oxygen levels, heart rhythm, breathing, and snoring. This tells your physician what he or she needs to know in order to diagnose and treat your sleeping problem. All testing is done in a home-like environment with state-of-the-art equipment that painlessly monitors your sleep.
While there are over 100 types of sleep disorders, the most commonly diagnosed is sleep apnea — when a person stops breathing repeatedly during sleep. If left untreated, sleep apnea can cause insomnia, memory problems, hypertension, congestive heart failure, and in some cases sudden death. Fortunately, sleep apnea, like other sleep disorders, can be treated once it is detected.
Daytime testing can be scheduled for those individuals who work nights. Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT) and Maintenance of Wakefulness Testing (WMT) are also available.
