Ocean Medical Center Foundation

About the Foundation
Ocean Medical Center Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to partnering with the community to provide philanthropic support for Ocean Medical Center. With the generous support of our trustees, community members, and local organizations, Ocean Medical Center Foundation helps Ocean Medical Center continue to provide the most advanced care available to our community.

The generosity of individuals, businesses, foundations and organizations has always been a source of strength and growth for Ocean Medical Center. During these times of drastic changes in health care reimbursements, your support is essential as we continue to provide the very best health care to everyone in our community, regardless of their ability to pay.

You can make a difference by visiting ChefsForMammograms.com!
A special granola recipe is not only satisfying cravings; it is also making it possible for women to get mammograms. ChefsForMammograms.com was created by humanitarian Chef Michael Garahan to help fund this important diagnostic test that can detect breast cancer. By selling Chef Michael's Signature Garanola Granola, he hopes to make a mark in the fight against cancer. Each bag of granola sold will generate a donation of $2.00 to be provided to Ocean Medical Center. Funds will help offset costs for women who otherwise could not afford a mammogram.

Chef Michael grew up at the Jersey Shore, and his vision was inspired by his mother, Dolores, who taught him to cook at the age of four. In 1976, she passed away from breast cancer, just one year before she could see him graduate from the Culinary Institute of America. As a life-long humanitarian, this is yet another way for Chef Michael to give back. Click here to learn more about ChefsForMammograms.com or to place an order of granola and help the cause!

Recent gifts from friends helped provide a variety of needed services and equipment at Ocean Medical Center, such as:

  • Funding for programs and services at Ocean Care Center: The Ocean Care Center is a satellite emergency department that is fully qualified and equipped to treat minor emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Funding for the Oncology Navigator Program: The Oncology Navigator Program guides oncology patients from diagnosis to recovery; supporting them and helping them work through challenges including family and job responsibilities.

  • Programmatic support for the Pharmacology Institute: The Pharmacology Institute offers an innovative solution to the complications associated with the use of multiple medications.

  • Nursing Scholarships: Nursing Scholarships at Ocean Medical Center provide financial support for individuals returning to school to advance their education in nursing.

  • Patient Comfort Fund and Employee Emergency Fund: The Patient Comfort Fund and Employee Emergency Fund are funds that help our patients and employees in need during a crisis.

  • Chemotherapy infusion chairs, patient educational materials, and other items vital to excellent patient care.

The Guild of OMC
A very special thank-you to the Guild of Ocean Medical Center for their gift of more than $85,000 to Ocean Medical Center Foundation last year. The Guild worked tirelessly to raise this money at their annual Friends on the Bay cocktail reception last fall at the Manasquan River Golf Club. More than 240 guests enjoyed the evening of food, entertainment, and auctions while supporting the medical center.

This phenomenal donation which is being used to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment at Ocean Medical Center is just one of many gifts that the Guild has raised over the years for their community hospital. The success of Friends on the Bay and their contributions to Ocean Medical Center are due in part to the dedication and extraordinary efforts of co-chairs Susan & Ernie Scherler and Priscilla & Carl Hiby. Congratulations and our sincerest thanks.

Please mark your calendars and join Friends on the Bay on Friday, October 2, 2009. For more information, please contact the Guild at 732-295-9637.
