An arthrogram uses X-rays to obtain a series of pictures of your joint after a contrast material (like a dye) is injected into the joint.

A barium swallow (esophagram) is a test to view your upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including the back of your mouth and throat and your esophagus.

A modified barium swallow is a special X-ray done through the Speech Therapy Department that evaluates the way you swallow by examining the area from under your nose down to your chest.

Bloodwork tests your blood to see how your organs are working, how certain treatments are working, or whether you have or are at risk for certain health problems.

No appointment is necessary for most blood tests.* Our hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A bone density/DEXA test measures how much calcium and other minerals are in your bones.

Bone Scan
A bone scan is a nuclear imaging test that shows images of the skeletal system. This test generally involves a 3 to 4 hour wait in between injection time and scan time.

Breast Biopsy
A breast biopsy removes a small sample of breast tissue. Sometimes this test is ultrasound guided, meaning that it uses ultrasound (sound waves that create images of your breast tissue) as a guide in taking the sample.

Breast Ultrasound or MRI
A breast ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of your breast tissue. A breast MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create images of your breast tissue.

Bronchoscopy
A bronchoscopy uses a specialized instrument to view the airways of your lungs.

If your primary care physician has recommended a bronchoscopy, you must first make an appointment with a pulmonologist. A CT (computerized tomography) scan combines a series of X-ray views taken from many different angles to create cross-sectional images of the bones and soft tissues inside your body. A CT scan with hydration means you'll also have an IV.

CT or Ultrasound Biopsy

An EKG, or electrocardiogram, is a test that records your heart's electrical activity.

No appointment is necessary for an EKG. This test is available at Ocean Medical Center on Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatogram)
ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatogram) combines upper endoscopy (use of a specialized instrument to view inside your gastrointestinal tract) and X-rays to view and sometimes provide treatment in your bile and pancreatic ducts.

If your primary care physician has recommended an ERCP, you must first make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. If you need a gastroenterologist, please visit our online directory or call our physician referral line at 800-560-9990. Once you’ve seen your gastroenterologist, that office will make your appointment for you. Our pre-registration office will then call you to obtain additional details needed for your appointment.

Upper Endoscopy (EGD)
An upper endoscopy uses a specialized instrument to view inside your upper gastrointestinal tract, which includes your esophagus, stomach, and duodenum (the first part of your small intestine).

If your primary care physician has recommended an endoscopy, you must first make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. If you need a gastroenterologist, please visit our online directory or call our physician referral line at 800-560-9990.
Once you’ve seen your gastroenterologist, that office will make your appointment for you. Our pre-registration office will then call you to obtain additional details needed for your appointment.
