The goal of this internal medicine residency program is to prepare residents with appropriate skills, knowledge and attitude towards delivering safe patient care. Residents are required to show their ability and proficiency in the following ACGME competency areas: patient care, medical knowledge, practice based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism and system based practice. The educational settings in which the residents will be based are:
Ambulatory patient care with an emphasis on health promotion in diagnosis and managing chronic disease
Hospitalist Physician where the resident is responsible to manage complex patients in acute care settings with emphasis on quality and safety
Traditional Internal Medicine with residents managing patients in acute, chronic and extended care settings. Residents will work as a team towards a continuum of care for complex health conditions by coordinating with other specialists in the hospital
In addition, this program will train residents to become future leaders with a curriculum greatly concentrated on quality improvement and patient safety.
