About Ocean Medical Center's Pediatric Services
When your child requires medical services, it’s comforting to know that Ocean Medical Center provides the health care you need along with a caring touch.
The Pediatric Care Center is located within the new Emergency Department at Ocean Medical Center, and provides families with emergency care for children, as well as an observation area staffed by a dedicated team of board certified pediatricians who are on call around the clock. The child-friendly space is bright and cheerful, and offers private in-room accommodations for parents of observation patients, including a pull-out bed, private in-room shower, and television. Parents are allowed to stay with their child 24 hours a day.
Young patients with minor emergencies are treated in the Pediatric Care Center, which includes four private rooms separate from the main Emergency Department. This private and comfortable area is staffed with board certified, emergency trained pediatricians and pediatric nurses. The Pediatric Care Center is available seven days a week during the busiest hours, from 1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., complementing the emergency services that we provide to children and adults 24 hours a day.
For patients with more severe illnesses or injuries, the Pediatric Care Center is a member of Hackensack Meridian Health Pediatric Network and offers a direct link to the area’s leading children’s hospital, K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The Children’s Hospital provides inpatient pediatric care with access to the expertise of more than 100 pediatric specialists.
Pediatric services also extend to the maternity unit. Ocean Medical Center offers Level II neonatology for infants who need more intensive observation after birth.
Ocean Care Center, Stand Alone Emergency Department
The Hackensack Meridian Health Ocean Care Center, located in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, provides similar capabilities as a hospital-based emergency department for non-life-threatening medical care and also provides outpatient services, such as lab testing and imaging.
Non-life-threatening medical care is for severe, critical illnesses that need immediate care but is not life threatening. Stand-alone Emergency Departments also have full access to hospital Emergency Departments if needed.
