About Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
Patients experiencing conditions such as shortness of breath, emphysema, asthma, or pulmonary disease can achieve a healthier, more active life through exercise. Pulmonary rehabilitation combines both education and exercise sessions, offered by board-certified pulmonary physicians and health care professionals specializing in pulmonary treatment and rehabilitation, to enhance patients’ quality of living. State-of-the-art diagnostic testing, outpatient pulmonary function testing, and treatment and rehabilitation for a variety of breathing problems are available. Our programs are individually prescribed to help patients increase mobility, improve stamina, and reduce breathing anxiety.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Ocean University Medical Center provides specialized expertise to treat shortness of breath due to the following conditions:

Ocean University Medical Center’s formal Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program will allow you to learn to cope with your illness while improving your physical health. If you feel you may benefit from our program you will need a prescription from your physician. Once you have a prescription, you may call and schedule your initial evaluation.
Evaluation & Program
During your initial visit, our staff will review your medical history and determine if you are appropriate for our program. We will discuss exercise options and breathing techniques used to overcome shortness of breath with activity.
Our team will assist you with setting goals to get you on your way to improved health. We will advance exercise to your tolerance and evaluate your progress daily. We will monitor your heart rate, oxygen level, and blood pressure.
Our staff is trained and certified in emergency care and our facility is located in the medical center, providing a safe exercise environment.
