About Our Home Hemodialysis Program
The Dialysis Center at Ocean Medical Center offers a truly portable daily home hemodialysis system (NxStage® System One™) for people who suffer from chronic kidney failure. The NxStage® System One™ enables patients to conduct more frequent hemodialysis therapy in the comfort of their own home or even when traveling.
More frequent hemodialysis has been shown to provide substantial clinical benefits. By increasing the frequency and reducing the duration of the dialysis session, the process more closely resembles the normal working of the kidney. In addition, it allows patients greater independence and flexibility in managing their kidney disease.

- 5-6 days a week
- Flexible lifestyle and independence
- Portable dialysis machine is compact and portable
- Training 4-5 weeks
- Vascular access is needed for dialysis. This procedure can be performed in Ocean Medical Center’s state of the art vascular lab and can be scheduled through Jersey Coast Vascular Institute, located on the Ocean Medical Center campus.
Patients interested in home dialysis should speak with their physician. A prescription from the physician and a trained partner are required to be considered for participation in the home dialysis program. Spanish speaking educators/trainers are available.
